On Thursday, July 27, early in the morning, an American nurse named Alix Dorsainvil and her daughter were abducted close to the Haiti capital
El Roi Haiti, the nonprofit where Alix volunteers, posted a comment regarding the incident on their website.
Who is Alix Dorsainvil New Hampshire nurse and daughter kidnapped in Haiti as she goes missing and latest update
Alix, originally from New Hampshire, arrived in Haiti after accepting Sandro’s invitation to treat the pupils at a nearby school. She and her daughter were kidnapped.
The kidnapping has been reported to the US authorities, who are collaborating with their Haitian colleagues to ensure the pair’s safe return. They stated, “The US Department of State and our embassies and consulates abroad have no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens overseas.”
Alix Dorsainvil: Who Is She?
Alix is a nurse from the United States who earned her degree from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. She calls Haiti her home and the people of Haiti her family and friends. She is originally from New Hampshire, but she was working as a nurse in Port-au-Prince for a charitable organisation called El Roi Haiti to assist the residents in receiving medical care.
In a statement, the organisation referred to her as having “deeply compassionate” qualities and added that “Alix has worked tirelessly as our school and community nurse to bring relief to those who are suffering as she loves and serves the people of Haiti in the name of Jesus.”
Sandro, the organisation’s founder, and Alix are married and have a kid together.
Who is Sandro?
Sandro was born and raised in the challenging areas of Port-au-Prince. He later travelled to the US to attend a Christian high school and eventually graduated from Liberty University in Virginia. Sandro returned to Haiti after completing his studies to use his non-profit to help the people there.
The US State Department Statement On the Disappearance of Alix Dorsainvil and Her Daughter
It is crucial to remember that Alix’s alleged kidnapping occurred the same day that Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed “very deep concern for the situation [in Haiti], particularly with regard to the violence and activities of gangs” in a meeting with his Australian colleague.
The State Department also issued a directive that day directing non-emergency American government workers and their families to leave Haiti “due to kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and poor health care infrastructure.”
Such crimes are not new; in the past, there have been instances of kidnapping when the victims were supposedly held captive until a sizable ransom was paid. According to the reports, the US government stated that it is collaborating with the Haitian government on Alix and her daughter’s kidnapping and “will continue to work with them and our US government interagency partners” to ensure the mother and child’s safe return.
