India won four medals at the most recent competition in 2019 hosted in Naples, Italy: one gold, one silver, and two bronze. The last three medals were in shooting, but Dutee Chand took home the gold in the women’s 100m.
At Chengdu 2023, shooters also helped India get off to a strong start with gold medals in the women’s 10m air pistol and air rifle competitions from Manu Bhaker and Elavenil Valarivan, respectively. On the first day, Bhaker finished the podium on top in the women’s 10m air pistol team competition, along with Abhidnya Ashok Patil, Yashaswini Deswal, and others.
