The Brazilian has been spotted practicing at high altitudes to acclimatize to the climate in Salt Lake City. One of the competitors on the roster with the most experience is Blachowicz, who is 40 years old. He has a stellar 29-9 record in professional MMA. Pereira, on the other hand, has a 7-2 record over the course of his professional MMA career.

In addition to Poirier vs. Gaethje, Tony Ferguson and Bobby Green will also face off in a Lightweight matchup on the main programme. Ferguson would try to change his luck by defeating Green, who has dropped his previous five fights.
