Rashmi Samant was one of the major targets of Hinduphobia and cyberbullying. She was a student at Oxford University who came close to becoming the first Indian woman to be elected as the student union’s president-elect. However, she was targeted by many people who blamed her for being a fascist.
The Controversial Post By Rashmi Samant
In order to remove her from her position, people targeted her and her family and brought up old posts. Her previous social media post, where she was spotted making a comment, went viral. She appeared to differentiate between women and trans women in one of her social media posts.
She was demanded to resign from her new position by the Oxford Students Union Campaign for Racial Awareness and Equality (CRAE) and the Oxford LGBTQ Campaign on the grounds that she had offended members of numerous communities.
This time again, she was targeted for standing up for girls in Udupi, who three men secretly filmed. While those students simply got away by being suspended, Samat and her family are facing police harassment.
Samant had expressed her concerns in a series of tweets, drawing comparisons between the Udupi episode and the 1992 Ajmer tragedy. She cited a news article to spread awareness and stop other “unsuspecting” females from falling into similar traps and suffering terrible repercussions like suicide.
In the Ajmer case, males from the minority community gang-raped hundreds of college- and high-school-aged girls and used nude photos as a form of blackmail.

Later, she went ahead to attend Linacre College at Oxford University, where she is enrolled in a master’s in science programme in energy systems.
24 year old Samant was an Oxford University Global Leadership Initiative Fellow. The Oxford Aviation Society was co-founded by her, and she served as its general secretary. During her internships in Prague and Poland, Rashmi Samant worked on projects related to atomic science.

It is misinformed to say that the Karnataka police is acting against me. They tried to intimidate me with no probable cause, very different from trying to combat misinformation. Get your facts right before pinning me down instead of the actual perpetrators of the crime. https://t.co/i8QKbj2iIQ
