Following the allegations, the NFL conducted investigations upon Dan Snyder and found him guilty of the harassment charges.
Tiffani Johnston brief bio
Tiffani Johnston is a former employee of the Washington Commanders, formerly known as the Washington Football Team. She started out working for the team back in 2002 and worked for eight years. During her time there, Tiffani worked as a cheerleader before eventually stepping as the marketing manager.
Tiffani Johnston filed harassment allegations against Dan Snyder
Tiffani Johnston accused the Dan Snyder, who is the team’s outgoing owner of harassing her throughout her time with the organization. The former employee revealed an incident where Snyder placed his hand on her thigh without her consent while attending a team dinner. She further explained how he placed his hand on her lower back and persuaded her to ride in his limousine.
The NFL carries out investigations
Following the accusations, the NFL hired an attorney named Mary Jo White to investigate Johnston’s allegations. Mary Jo White also received instructions to investigate other financial impropriety claims against Snyder from another former employee.
After carrying out her investigations, Mary Jo White compiled a 23-page report revealing how Snyder s*xually harassed Johnston and also on how the organization withheld $11 million in revenue under Snyder’s orders. According to NFL policies, the organization were supposed to share the reported revenue with other teams. Moreover, White reported that Snyder hardly cooperated with the investigation process, while ruling some claims against him as “insufficient”.
In response to the investigations, the court has ordered Dan Snyder to pay the NFL a hefty fine of $60 million. Interestingly, the findings also played a role in approving the sale of the Washington Commanders from Snyder to the Josh Harris group.
Calls for transparency in the NFL
Owing to the severity of the case and the new information unraveled, former employees and the House Democrats have called for transparency from the NFL. They are urging the NFL to release all individuals involved in such allegations from nondisclosure agreements. The request also includes an appeal to disclose all the documents and communications obtained during the investigation.
