Postponing The Magic of Shiri
Jio Cinema announced the news on social media, stating that “The Magic of Shiri” will now be available on the platform at a new time, and viewers will need to wait a little longer to learn that. Jio Cinema delayed the release of “The Magic of Shiri” indefinitely without providing any explanation.
The Plot Story of The Magic of Shiri
The Magic of Shiri tells the tale of Shiri Shah (Divyanka), who made many sacrifices to wed her Jain spouse but subsequently made the decision to follow her aspirations.
The Controversial Trailer
In the trailer, she is seen portraying a Punjabi girl who is married into a Jain family when suddenly one day her husband and father of her two kids show up with a decision to be a ‘Jain Muni.’
This plot showcased the community in a bad light, as no man can ever be a ‘muni’ in one day. It takes years of preparation and the family’s permission to leave the material world. Additionally, a sole earner is also not allowed to leave his family behind and walk the path of salvation.
The community has shown objection to the scene where Tripathi is seen crying in front of her husband.
Divyanka Responds To The Hold-Up
Divyanka released a post on Instagram to announce the delay in the release. She wrote about the delay in poetic form. She captioned the post and wrote, “Show date postponed. We’ll return shortly with Shiri.”
The show, which Birsa Dasgupta directed, also stars Parmeet Sethi, Namit Das, Darshan Zareewala, and Neelu Kohli. Produced by Tanveer Bookwala and Jyoti Deshpande, it is presented by Jio Studios.
According to sources, the makers are thinking of a solution and rectifying the error.
#magicofshiri movie on @JioCinema shows Jain community in poor light- conservative, dogmatic, restrictive for women. But then most Hindus can also be defined like this. Why single out a minority. Movie also implies that monkhood post marriage is wrong? It is factually incorrect. https://t.co/J6NqoMKlxe
