He was 55. WWE (formerly known as WWF during Halac’s heyday) officially announced his demise.
Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Dr. Chris Featherstone can confirm that former WWE Superstar Mike Halac, alias Mantaur, passed away following a back injury.
After falling on Tuesday, Halac was sent to the hospital. Initially, the former wrestler worried that he might have fractured either the sixth (T-6) or seventh (T-7) thoracic vertebrae in his back. He regrettably died in his sleep at the age of 55 a few hours later. Several wrestlers, including Bryan Clark, nicknamed Adam Bomb, paid tribute to the 1990s icon on Twitter:

Halac’s most well-known appearance was in the WWE in 1994 and 1995 as Mantaur. The persona was fashioned after the Minotaur, a mythological creature with a man’s body, a bull’s head, and a tail. Halac committed everything he had to the part, frequently charging and taking out foes.
During his time in the WWE, Halac competed against several well-known athletes, including Bam Bam Bigelow, Bret Hart, and Razor Ramon. In 1996, he made a brief comeback to WWE as Goldust’s bodyguard. On July 5, 1997, he appeared on Shotgun Saturday Night as Tank for his final match with the organisation. Adam O’Brien, Chris Steele, and Kevin Flynn were defeated as a result of his collaboration with Recon and The Interrogator.
