The school district had previously issued a cease and desist letter urging James to remove her OF and related social media accounts. Despite this, Kristin MacDonald refused and challenged the notion of balancing her teaching profession while managing her account. Finally, the ongoing feud has come to a halt with a decision that puts James out of her educational position.

From OF to getting fired

The school board, interestingly, confessed to subscribing to James’s account to monitor the content she produced. After careful review, the decision to terminate James was put into effect. According to the issued reports, Kristin MacDonald’s termination hinged on six reasons, the primary one being the “sexualization of the school environment.”

The concern stemmed from a TikTok video where James donned a schoolgirl outfit and performed a dance. The school district’s letter highlighted the negative impact of such content on the district’s operations, reputation, and work environment.

James hasn’t been happy about this choice, and she has criticised the school board, saying that their actions are based on spite and being small-minded. She didn’t understand what her actions had to do with the school system being slandered, and she called the whole thing “very petty.”

Kristin MacDonald continued her answer on Instagram, where she called out Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and pointed out that he had worn blackface in the past, while she was told to change because she was dressed like a schoolgirl.

What’s next for Kristin MacDonald?

The question of what further steps James might take remains unanswered. Nonetheless, she is not the first educator to lose her job over such content. Earlier, a science teacher from Arizona was dismissed after she was discovered making videos on her students’ desks.

The case of Kristin MacDonald, aka Ava James, illuminates the complex interplay between personal online activities and professional responsibilities. This incident underscores the need for clearer guidelines and discussions around educators’ use of social media and other digital platforms.

35 year old Kristin MacDonald, who was off work due to back surgery on April 24, is an educational assistant in SD43 and was fired on April 28.
