India vs West Indies 1st Test match preview
Going into the match, India are currently on the back of the WTC Final 2023 loss to Australia. Meanwhile, West Indies recently failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023. They failed to qualify after finishing only in fifth place in the Super Six stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
As both teams prepare for the upcoming test series, both teams have named a few new faces in their squads. India have called up new players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar, while the hosts have called up new players like Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanazie.
The upcoming match will be the sixth Test match held at the venue, where India and West Indies previously clashed in the first-ever red ball game back in 2011. That particular match ended in a draw. Meanwhile, the last Test match ever played at the venue was six years ago back in 2017.

Windsor Park Dominica pitch report
Based on matches that have taken place over the previous years, the pitches at the Windsor Park are like a typical Test wicket. The pitches assist quicker bowlers on day 1, while batters slowly gain the upper hand on days 2 and 3. However, with the wicket getting used, the spinners then come into play on the final two days of a Test. The average scores for the pitch so far show that the teams batting second have scored the most runs. Moreover, teams chasing in the final innings have mostly chased small targets. As for the wickets, both spinners and pacers share an even amount.
Dominica weather forecast
The weather forecast for Dominica starting from Wednesday (July 12) to Sunday (July 16) currently shows warm and partly sunny days on days 2, 3 and 4. However, there are chances of rain on day 1 and 5. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature will range between 30°C to 32°C.
