Joshua Cheptegei, a world record holder and Olympic winner in the men’s 5000m, is the favourite, and Beatrice Chepkoech, a world record holder in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, hopes to break the nine-minute barrier for the first time in almost a year.
400 m hurdles expert Femke Bol is back on the track after clocking a fast 400 metres in the European Team Championships in Silesia. Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will face off against world champion Tobi Amusan in the 100-meter hurdles, and sprinter Marie-Jose Ta Lou is predicted to take home the victory in her third Diamond League Series race of the year.
Tobi Express on the move this week – Nigeria's Tobi Amusan will be making her first Diamond League appearance this season, competing in Lausanne on Friday; but first she will be in Ostrava on Tuesday for the Golden Spike meet.
