Based on the ongoing manga of the same name by Taku Kawamura, the serialization of My Clueless First Friend began on May 22, 2018, in the May issue of Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker magazine. There are presently 15 volumes of the manga, the most recent of which came out on July 22, 2023, in Japan.

Plot
Until a new youngster moved into the neighborhood, there was only one girl in fifth grade who was always the victim of her classmates’ continuous taunting and torment. She was always miserable and lived alone. Friendly Takada is just as naive as he is well-meaning, yet for some inexplicable reason, he possesses the magical ability to coax “Grim Reaper” Nishimura out of her shell and into the open.
