On Wednesday, India will begin their 2023 SAFF Championship title quest with a match against arch-rivals Pakistan at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium. For this tournament, SAFF invited Kuwait and Lebanon to participate alongside the existing six member countries.

2023 SAFF Championship schedule, date, venue, format, & participating teams
At the 2023 SAFF Championship, reigning champions India are paired alongside Pakistan, Nepal, & Kuwait in Group-A. Meanwhile, tournament’s best-ranked team Lebanon are placed in Group-B with Maldives, Bhutan, & Bangladesh. Following the end of group stage, top-two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-final. It is confirmed that this prestigious tournament will run beginning from 21st June through 4th July in Bengaluru. Notably, all of the matches will be played at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
After FIFA suspended Sri Lanka’s football federation in January 2023, India was handed the hosting rights for this edition of the tournament. Sri Lanka won’t host the event this year, and they won’t take part either, as a result of FIFA’s suspension. India has won the tournament on eight previous occasions, making them the most successful team in the competition’s history.
