Following their 3-1 victory against Japan, hosts India finished their league phase campaign at the 2023 Squash World Cup as Group-B winner. With three wins from as many games, India finished with 17-points, which is six more than group runner-up Japan. Thanks to this feat, India will play against Malaysia in Friday’s semi-final and top-seed Egypt are scheduled to take on Japan.

Australia defeated Colombia 4-0 in the opening match of the day, securing third place in Pool-A following a match that was far tougher than the final score might indicate. South Africa defeated Hong Kong in the second match to clinch third place in their pool and finish the campaign on high-note. With their 3-1 victory over Malaysia in another match of Thursday, top-seed Egypt solidified their position atop Pool-A, and Malaysia qualified for the semi-final as group runner-up.
Elsewhere, hosts India avoided defeat against Japan to finish their league campaign as the winners of Group-B. Thanks to valiant performance by Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa, India emerged victorious by the score of 3-1. Following these results, it is confirmed that India will play against Malaysia in Friday’s semi-final tie and Egypt will clash against Japan.
