Berlusconi’s wealth, estimated at $7 billion, was amassed through several business ventures he pursued alongside his political career. These included his prominent position in Mediaset and his ownership of A.C. Milan, the Italian football club, from 1986 to 2017.
Silvio Berlusconi was a controversial figure
Despite his successes, Berlusconi’s career was marred by a series of scandals, leading to numerous trials involving tax schemes and sexual allegations. One of the most notorious incidents involved charges of engaging in sexual acts with a 17-year-old nightclub dancer, Karima El-Mahroug, at one of his notorious “bunga bunga” parties. Although initially convicted and banned from public office for life, Italy’s highest court acquitted him two years later.
Silvio Berlusconi will be remembered by everyone
When they heard he had died, leaders from all over Italy paid respect to him. Matteo Salvini, who is the deputy prime minister, Guido Crosetto, who is the defence minister, and Matteo Renzi, who was the prime minister of Italy before Berlusconi, have all said that Berlusconi had a big impact on the country. Even though his work was controversial, many people agreed that he had an unmatched effect on Italy’s political, economic, and media landscapes.
Berlusconi’s nine-year term as Prime Minister made him the third-longest-serving leader of the Italian government, after Benito Mussolini and Giovanni Giolitti. His impact and the things he leaves behind show how important he was in making modern Italy what it is today.
Berlusconi died at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan. He had been sick for a long time, with problems like Covid-19 and a lung infection linked to chronic leukaemia. His death marks the end of an era in Italy, a time when the country grew and changed in ways that had never been seen before.
