According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident involved an SUV traveling westbound on Highway 50. The vehicle veered into a lane closed due to ongoing construction work and subsequently collided with an arrow board-equipped trailer and the rear of a truck.

Regrettably, Jarosz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which contributed significantly to his immediate death. A stalwart of the local dining scene, Jarosz owned several well-known restaurants in Sacramento, including Broderick Roadhouse, Bones Craft Kitchen, and Anomino Pizza. Moreover, he was the proud co-owner of Localis, a restaurant that gained a Michelin star in 2022.

He fondly recalled, “Chris was one of those who said, ‘We have empty cooks, and empty restaurants, and food in the fields, and we know there’s hungry people out there what are we going to do?’ In Sacramento, we brought probably about 3 million meals and a good number of those came from him.”

Anonimo Pizza, one of Jarosz’s establishments, took to Facebook to share their grief and confirm the tragic news, stating, “We are saddened to say that our leader Chris Jarosz had a terrible accident this morning and passed away. Our condolences to his family and close friends. God bless Chris, rest in peace. You will be missed.” They further announced the restaurant’s closure on May 24th, resuming regular hours from May 25th.
