The club announced on Monday that NorthEast United has hired former Vissel Kobe manager Juan Pedro Benali as it’s head coach for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The 54-year-old has coached teams on three different continents, including Europe, Asia, and Africa, and has served as the technical assistant for the Finnish national team over an accomplished career spanning nearly three decades.
Speaking about his appointment, Juan Pedro Benali said,
It is a great honor for me to accept the appointment as the Head Coach of NEUFC. I am incredibly excited to embark on this journey with the club as we look to build a competitive team that can challenge at the highest of levels.
He added,
I have diligently followed the league, observing many players who have either played alongside me or competed against me, such as Hugo Boumous, Noah Sadaoui, Mourtada Fall, and Zaid Krouch. As well as having the pleasure of working alongside distinguished professionals like Sergio Lobera, Stuart Baxter, and Miguel Ángel Portugal, who competed in this league.

Juan Pedro Benali is a well-known Spanish football coach. He has been in the news because he was recently hired as the head coach of NorthEast United for the upcoming ISL.
He is a native of La Manga, Murcia, Spain. He is a professional football coach and has an official license from the Spanish Football Association. He is currently 54 years old.
His career
Throughout his career, Juan Pedro Benali has been at the forefront of several clubs, filling a variety of responsibilities and inspiring them to great success. His abilities were soon noticed by Atletico Madrid, who hired him as a technical assistant for a period of six months in 1999 while he began his management career with Las Rozas CF.
He has taken on coaching duties in Morocco and the United Arab Emirates after accumulating a plethora of expertise. Notably, he led the Sharjah Football Club to the UAE Cup triumph in 2003 and the Moroccan team SCC Mohammedia to the Arab Cup quarterfinals in 2001.
Juan Pedro Benali took over as Vissel Kobe’s head coach in 2008, a role that was successful as he guided the team to promotion in the very competitive J League and won Japan’s prestigious “Best Attack” Award.
Benali also devoted two years of his career to each team, lending his knowledge as a technical assistant to Finland and Racing Santander. Also, he took on the position of club director for Moghreb Tetouan, a Moroccan organization, and Al Dharfa, a renowned club in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
