The Malaysian badminton team’s impressive run at the Sudirman Cup came to an end as they lost in the semifinal tie in Suzhou. Malaysia, making just their third appearance in the final four of the international mixed-team championship, fell to four-time champion South Korea 3-1. In the mixed-doubles ties, Korean duo Seo Seung Jae & Chae Yu Jung defeated Chen Tang Jie & Toh Ee Wei 11-21, 21-13, 21-7 to hand Malaysia their first mixed doubles loss in four matches. Malaysia equalized thanks to Lee Zii Jia, who defeated Jeon Hyeok Jin with ease, 21-11, 21-9. An Se Young, the world’s No. 2 women’s singles player, however, caused the tie to change back in favor of the Koreans.
