On Thursday, YouTuber iDubbbz aka Ian Kane Jomha, made headlines after posting a video titled “I miss the old idubbbz.” In the video, he apologises for all the hateful and bigoted comments he’s made in the past. He referred to the audience as adhering to his “old rhetoric” and how his actions were wrong.
iDubbbz stated his desire to “take accountability for the mistakes I’ve made.” He said that, over the years, he has gotten away from the kind of material that may be viewed as discriminatory. It was a “weak and passive way to run the channel,” he continued, to keep producing content without addressing the issue.
He continued, “Some of my videos have been very edgy. I am responsible for creating a lot of unpleasant and detrimental content on this channel. I’ve also established a culture of apathy and cruelty. Simply put, I believe they were brutal.”
He also brought up Tana Mongeau and apologised profusely for “harassing” her both online and in person. I want to apologise to Tana in particular,” he stated. Tana, I apologise. I ought not to have produced that video. Tana was harassed by me both in person and online, which is unacceptable conduct. It’s so stupid.”
