Although Indonesia had a terrible start against Malaysia in the men’s team event final, they maintained their composure to bag three straight victories. Ultimately, they won the tie 3-1 to bag the gold medal and avenge their country’s final loss in the women’s team event.

In the badminton finals at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, gold medal favorites Indonesian men’s team and Thailand women’s team have triumphed. At the men’s final, Indonesia took on Malaysia, and in the women’s final, Thailand faced Indonesia with women’s doubles pair Jongkolphan Kititharakul & Rawinda Prajongjai on their team.

Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, the 19th-ranked player in the world, was Indonesia’s captain, but he lost the first match of the tie against Leong Jun Hao in just 31 minutes to lose by the score of 16-21, 13-21. Indonesia fell behind as a result, but the favorites dominated the following three matches to emerge victorious by the score of 3-1 and clinch the gold medal. Thailand, the top-seeded team for women, won three straight games to clinch the title in women’s team competition.
