India will be participating in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup, formerly the AFC U-16 Championship and AFC U-17 Championship, for the ninth time. India’s best results in the age-group competition have been quarterfinal finishes in 2002 and 2018.

2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup schedule, date, venue, format, & participating teams
The AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 football competition, which is set to take place from June 15 to July 2 in Bangkok, has placed the Indian football team in Group D alongside three-time champions Japan, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. Malaysia, Laos, and Yemen will all be in Group A with host nation Thailand. South Korea, a two-time champion, is in Group B with Iran, Afghanistan, and Qatar. Tajikistan is grouped with China, Australia, and Saudi Arabia in Group C.
There will be four teams in each of the four groups and according to the format, top two teams from each group move on to the elimination rounds, which are the quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship game. The four semifinalists will receive invitations to the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2023, which will take place in Peru in November. Four locations will host the competition: the Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi, the Thammasat Stadium and BG Stadium in Pathum Thani, & the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.
