Brecel entered the evening session with a 6-2 advantage thanks to his strong performance in this afternoon’s first session. Selby tried his hardest to ramp up the heat right away, and with a magnificent 134 break, he succeeded. Before Selby, a 22-time ranking event champion, made it 7-4 with 96 in the eleventh, Brecel responded with 99 to lead 7-3. Selby then won a difficult 12th frame to trail by just two frames at 7-5 going into the break.
When the game resumed, 28-year-old Brecel took the initiative and increased his lead to 9-5 with contributions of 72 and 67. Selby won the fourteenth frame before a sports miracle electrified the Crucible Theatre. The cue player from Leicester made a perfect maximum 147 break. When Brecel struck 48 in the final, it appeared as though he would put an end to his opponent’s celebrations, but Selby made him pay for a missed red to set up an exciting final day in Sheffield tomorrow. Brecel is up one going into the second half, 9-8.

Snooker World Championship 2023 Prize Money
It is official that the £500,000 cash prize for the 2023 Snooker World Championship champion will be included in the $2,395,000 total prize fund. The runner-up in the competition will receive £200,000, and the losers of each semifinal will receive £100,000 instead. Following his semi-final defeat, debutant Si Jiahui is set to receuive prize money worth £100,000.
