Since Indian cricket fans are such ardent followers of the sport, we occasionally see strange events occur as a result. Today’s trend on Twitter is fan battles, but occasionally fan hostility spills over into the real world as well. One such incident also occurred at Arun Jaitley Stadium during a Delhi Capitals Indian Premier League game, where brutal fighting broke out between the fans.

On the field, the Delhi Capitals are also having a rough time, as they are currently last in the standings with only two victories in eight games. Even though the season is already halfway through, they still change their starting lineups and XIs since they haven’t yet found the proper combination.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad broke through the Qila Kotla on Saturday, handing the Capitals their sixth defeat of the year. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, Mitchell Marsh’s all-around efforts (4-27 and 63 off 39) were in vain as Delhi Capitals were unable to overtake the 198-run deficit.

Lower down the order, Axar Patel (29 off 14) gave it his all but it wasn’t enough as Delhi suffered another loss and remained at the bottom of the standings. Marsh and Phil Salt (59 off 35) smashed the fifties. For SRH, who are currently ranked eighth in the points table, it was their third victory in eight games.

Mitch Marsh was named man of the match.

Mitchell Marsh, who was voted Player of the Match despite the team’s defeat, claimed that Saturday’s game highlighted many great aspects of Delhi Capitals, including his own play.

“A disappointing loss, even if it took me a few games to get going. Had that lovely alliance with Salt, but not enough to cross the finish line. The wicket did slow down a little, but I believe that either way, we were chasing 20 runs too many.”
