Take a look at the list of all the winners till date of the Stanley Cup championship trophy which is awarded to the NHL (National Hockey League) playoff champion
The oldest trophy to have existed to be awarded to a professional sports franchise, the NHL Stanley Cup is considered to be one of the most important championships available to the sport of hockey by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Named after Lord Stanley of Preston, the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, as it was called was commissioned way back in 1892.
What is the NHL Stanley Cup: A brief history and all the winners
Lord Stanley of Preston was the governor general of Canada and he was the one to donate the Stanley Cup for the first time to an amateur ice hockey club. All of the credit goes to Preston and his family for promoting the game. Montreal Hockey Club was the first club to have won the trophy in 1893, and winners from 1893 to 1914 were chosen or determined by challenge games and league play.
Now without further ado, let’s take a look at the list of NHL Stanley Cup winners till date:

NHL Pay for playoffs and Stanley Cup winners prize money
When it comes to playoffs, the players get their salaries based on their annual contracts since contracts are paid from July 1 to June 30. The players do not get paid a new or separate salary for playing in the postseason.
The League rules actually limit from giving players bonuses for making it to the playoffs or for winning the Stanley Cup. Players who are on entry-level contracts or those over the age of 35 are allowed to be paid bonuses for performing in the playoffs.
However, players still do receive a compensation amount for a playoff appearance in their attempt to the become the Stanley Cup winners. Based on how far they advance, the NHL and NHLPA (NHL Player’s association) decide to set aside a playoff bonus pool to be distributed to each playoff team.
The winners of the Stanley Cup are given $17 million.
