41 year old Das from Odisha wore a beautiful red Sambalpuri saree and orange sneakers to complete the run in four hours and fifty minutes. Her achievement was shared on Twitter by multiple users, including ‘Friends of India Soc Intl UK.’

Running a full marathon of over 42.2 km is a very hard task to achieve; running the marathon in a sari makes it even more difficult. But Madhusmita ran the full distance in her red saree and showed her culture.”

Before this event, Das had participated in a number of marathons but this was the first time when she wore a saree while running. Das said she often wears a saree in the UK during summer days.
