Paul will fight former UFC star Nate Diaz on August 5 after years of teasing a bout at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The match will be a 185-pound eight-round contest.

Jake Paul

Jake Paul currently has a 6-1 record in the boxing ring, having previously beaten AnEsonGib, Nate Robinson, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley (twice). Recently back in October, “The Problem Child” beat MMA legend Anderson Silva via a unanimous decision. Paul’s last match was against Tyson Fury where he lost out on a split decision victory despite knocking him down in the final round.

Prior to the fight, Paul states:

My last fight didn’t end the way I wanted, but the result was the best thing that could have happened to my professional boxing aspirations. Now, the world thinks I am vulnerable when all I am is more focused than ever. My team wanted me to take an easy fight like KSI next, but that’s not how I am built. Nate Diaz is considered one of the most bad-a– fighters of all time, but he and his team have been running their mouths for too long.”

Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz is a professional MMA fighter who made his MMA debut back in 2004. He previously competed for WEC and Strikeforce before joining the UFC in 2007. He then won The Ultimate Fighter 5 lightweight tournament by beating Manvel Gamburyan.

Diaz’s record in the UFC stands at 16-11 after 27 contests. He has competed against the UFC’s best including stars like Clay Guida, Marcus Davis, Donald Cerrone, Jim Miller, and Michael Johnson. Diaz had a rivalry with Conor McGregor back in 2016, going 1-1 against him.

However, Diaz went on a hiatus until in 2019, when he beat Anthony Pettis before losing to Jorge Masvidal during the BMF Title fight.

He then fought again in 2021, where he lost to Leon Edwards. His last fight was at UFC 279, where he was supposed to fight Khamzat Chimaev but instead faced Tony Ferguson after Chamzat missed weight.

Diaz stated about Paul saying:

Besides Canelo, he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that. I’m the king of combat sports, and then I’m headed back to get my UFC belts,” said Diaz. “I f—– up Conor for acting out, and now here I am again, like a super hero of the real fight game, the king of the real fight game.”
