Rinku Singh was raised in a lowly family and was born on October 12, 1997, in the small town of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. His father used to deliver LPG cylinders from residence to residence. The third of five children, his family has experienced some hardship. Yet cricket enabled him to rise and experience happier times in his life.
When Rinku’s brother was in need of labour, he took him to a location where he was asked to sweep the floor. But Rinku wasn’t prepared to work as a sweeper and needed a better job. As he got back home, he told his mother that he would rather concentrate on his cricket than work odd jobs.
Cricketing career
Rinku made his List A cricket debut for UP in 2014 when he was just 16 years old. His First-class debut for UP happened in November 2016 two years later. He was initially acquired by Kings XI Punjab in the 2017 IPL for INR 10 lakh. He was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 for Rs 80 lakh, which was four times the INR 20 lakh that had been his basic price. He is still playing for the SRK team.
Few people are aware that Rinku Singh has also been subject to a BCCI ban. You did read that correctly. He was given a three-month suspension by the BCCI in 2019 because he participated in a foreign competition while unaware that the BCCI forbids its cricketers from competing in any league outside of India.

While KKR struggled in the previous IPL, Rinku’s performance stood out to everyone. His finest performance came in a game-winning 42 not out from 23 balls against Rajasthan Royals, where he played at No. 5 or below.
