IPL 2023 points table and purple and orange cap holder list today

As Kolkata Knight Riders rise to the third, here is all you need to know about the 2023 IPL points table and the Orange Cap and Purple Cap race holder list

The Kolkata Knight Riders won their first game of the IPL 2023 season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, April 6, at the Eden Garden in Kolkata, thanks to contributions from Shardul Thakur, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy.

Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, and Suyash Sharma, three mysterious spinners, worked together to dismiss RCB for 123 to secure a commanding 81-run victory after Shardul’s quick-fire fifty had propelled KKR to a difficult total of 204/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Despite Virat Kohli (21 off 18) and Faf Du Plessis (23 off 12) got their sides off to a strong start, Chakravarthy (4 for 15 in 3.4 overs), Narine (2 for 16 in 4 overs), and debutant Sharma (3 for 30 in 4 overs) befuddled RCB batters.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the opening batsman, had earlier reached his first IPL fifty (57 off 44), but Shardul (68 off 29) and Rinku Singh (46 off 33) were crucial in helping KKR to 192/6.

Karn Sharma (2 for 26 in 3 overs) and David Willey (2 for 16 in 4 overs) were the best bowlers for RCB, as the rest of the attack finished with costly totals.

In the IPL 2023 points standings, Royal Challengers Bangalore dropped two spots, going from third to second, while Kolkata Knight Riders gained four spots, going from seventh to third.
