Since her first fight in 2012, transgender MMA fighter Fallon Fox has caused a lot of trouble her breaking a skull
A tweet that went popular recently said that Fox had broken the heads of two opponents, but fact-checking has shown that this is not true.
In fact, Fox only broke the skull and orbital bone of one opponent, Tamikka Brents, during a 2014 TKO loss. Here is all you need to know about it.
Transgender Fallon Fox allegedly breaks opponent skull during MMA fight goes viral on Twitter
Dr. Anastasia Maria Loupis, who has a lot of followers on social media, wrote the tweet. In it, she criticised Fox’s “Bravest Athlete” award for 2020 and questioned the choice to let a trans athlete compete in women’s MMA. Loupis wrote, “Transgender MMA fighter Fallon Fox has now broken the bones of two female opponents. A man who beats up women and gets the “Bravest Athlete” title in 2020. Women are really hated.”
But it turned out that the picture that went with the tweet was of Kay Hansen, whose face was bloodied in a fight with Kalyn Schwartz in 2018. In a 2020 tweet that she later deleted, Fox replied to a claim by saying that she broke the skull of only one of her opponents. She also said that she liked “hitting TEFS in the cage when they say transphobic nonsense.”
Joe Rogan criticizes transgender athletes in women’s sports, mentions Fallon Fox
Fox’s past as a fighter who was born a man but competed in sports for women has been controversial. UFC commentator Joe Rogan has been very critical of transgender athletes who compete in women’s sports, saying that they should be honest with their opponents about who they are and where they come from.
In an episode of his show, The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan talked about Fox and said that she tried to hide the fact that she was a biological male while playing sports for women.
“There was a transgender fighter that was hiding the fact, [it was] Fallon Fox, that they were biologically male and competed… as a woman, and beating the f**k out of these women and trying to say that it was just a medical procedure,” Rogan said.
Even though she has caused a lot of debate, Fox is still a pioneer in combat sports as a trans athlete who competes at a high level.
