Fabio Wardley vs Michael Polite Coffie: match events & post-match reactions
With three thunderous right handed punches that connected, Wardley got the third round off to the best possible start. But soon after, he let his guard down and was repeatedly caught; one Coffie left hook to the ribs must have hurt, and he was repeatedly jabbed in the face.
When the fourth period began, Wardley sprinted in and opened fire with a dozen shots using both of his booming hands. As Coffie’s Philly-shell position failed to stop the assault, he was pushed against the ropes and forced to take the beating.
After evaluating the scenario, referee Howard Foster decided to stop the match and announce Wardley as the winner. Although Wardley felt the referee halted the match quicker than expected, he was confident of finishing the bout in the same round.
