The 2023 Spring anime schedule is just around the corner, and the new season’s major series include Demon Slayer, Dr Stone, Mashle, and KonoSuba.
One series, however, that fans should not overlook is Studio MAPPA’s latest title, Hell’s Paradise.
Jigokuraku, or Hell’s Paradise, is an upcoming fantasy action anime from Studio MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Attack on Titan season 4), based on Yuuji Kaku’s original manga series.
The new anime will tell the story of Gabimaru, a Shinobi who has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most powerful assassins, going by the moniker “Gabimaru The Hollow.” Gabimaru is on death row after being betrayed by his clan’s chief; however, no execution methods work on him, despite his claims that he truly wants to die.

When all hope seemed to be lost, Gabimaru was offered a deal, acquittal and protection against the chief of his clan, who told him to join an expedition to an unknown land to retrieve the ‘Elixir of Life’.
A statement of the makers reads “In hopes of reuniting with his beloved wife, Gabimaru heads to the island along with the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Upon arriving there, they encounter other death row convicts in search of the Elixir of Life… as well as a host of unknown creatures, eerie manmade statues, and the hermits who rule the island. Can Gabimaru find the Elixir of Life on this mysterious island and make it back home alive?”
Crunchyroll will simulcast Hell’s Paradise around the world.
