All clubs in the Premier League will see their players wear black armbands this weekend in the memory of Roger Hunt

The ongoing round of fixtures in the Premier League have seen the players of all the clubs wear black armbands in a bid to remember England and Liverpool player, Roger Hunt.

Touted as one of the most fearsome attacking players to have worn the famous and revered Liverpool red, Roger Hunt passed away earlier this week on Monday, aged 83. He is the second highest goal scorer in Liverpool folklore with Hunt have netted on a gargantuan 285 occasions in 492 matches in a career which spanned more than 11 years at Liverpool.

Roger Hunt Remembered In The Premier League As Players Pay Their Respects Wearing Black Armbands 

Hunt had received the moniker Sir Roger from Liverpool supporters and was the spearhead of Liverpool’s attacking gameplan under the tutelage of Bill Shankly. He had passed away after a lengthy illness with Liverpool paying tribute to their legend.

A Liverpool statement said: “We are mourning the passing of legendary former player Roger Hunt.

“The thoughts of everybody at Liverpool Football Club are with Roger’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time.”

Players of all the clubs are not only wearing black armbands this weekend to remember Hunt but are also applauding him and his career prior to matches getting underway. The player will forever be regarded as a colossal figure to have graced both the Premier League and English football, someone who left no stone unturned to stamp his authority on the pitch.

Liverpool will be taking on Manchester City next in the Premier League on Sunday.
