Brian Gillis left the band in the late 1990s to focus on his solo career. He was replaced by singer Devin Lima, who is from the Boston area. But the band kept going, with Fischetti and Lima, until Lima died of adrenal cancer at age 41 in 2018.
Gillis is the third member of the LFO to die. Rich Cronin died in 2010 at age 36. He had a stroke while he was fighting leukaemia. Gillis’s cause of death is still unknown, and Fischetti said that he doesn’t know the details because it “wouldn’t be his place to share them” if he did.
