2023 World Men’s Curling Championship preview and format

The 2023 World Men’s Curling Championship will kick off with a 12-game round-robin stage, where each team will play against each other once. Following this round, the top six teams will then advance into the play-offs.

Out of the top six teams, the first and second placed teams will receive direct byes to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, the third, fourth, fifth and sixth teams will compete against each other in qualification games for the semi-finals.

For the qualification games, the third-ranked team will face the sixth-ranked team, while the fourth and fifth-ranked teams will play against one another. The two winners of these games will then advance into the semi-finals.

Once the semis are played out, the two winners will then face against each other in the final match. Meanwhile, the other two teams will face off against each other for the bronze medal.

In the event of a tie, there will be no tiebreaker games, as such, head-to-head results will determine the winner. In case the head-to-head results are not enough to resolve it, then the organizers will choose the winner based on the pre-game Last Shot Draw distances.
