Captain Felipe Felis dos Santos, a spokesman for the fire department, said that the cause of the fire is still unknown. It didn’t get to any other apartments in the building, though. Nitao’s 23-year-old brother also lived with her, but he was able to get out of the house before the fire got too bad. He is being treated right now for breathing in smoke.
Nitao was taken to the hospital after the fall killed her, but the doctors couldn’t save her. Her brother found out that she had died almost 24 hours after the tragedy began at 10:40 a.m.

Geraldina Kelly da Silva Angelo, Nitao’s mother, told Metropoles about the tragedy. “Fire took over everything. (She) was afraid to go through the fire. She was born to shine: she was a star. Strong, warrior, determined. Everything she did was with love.”

Nitao was a rising star in the fashion world, and the news of her death has shocked everyone there. Also in a recent interview with KW Fashion Magazine, Nitao talked about how she got into the fashion world.
She had said that she valued peace and self-care, saying, “I’m super big on being peaceful and calm, so a perfect day for me would be waking up early, meditating, praying, exercising, sunbathing, going to the beach or park, eating healthy meals with my family, studying, talking to people I love, watching a movie, reading a book, and just taking care of myself in every way.”
