The Indian men’s football team will play Myanmar in their opening match of the year on Wednesday at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal, Manipur, as part of the Tri-Nation International Football Tournament 2023.

Sunil Chhetri and Co. will play at the same venue on March 28 alongside the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Indian men’s football team last competed against Vietnam in September 2016 international friendly. The Indian team suffered a 3-0 loss.
The Indian team will use these two matches as part of their preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2023, which will begin in Qatar in January of that year.

India is now ranked 106 in the FIFA rankings, while Myanmar and the Kyrgyz Republic are both ranked 159 and 94.
For the seven-day competition, India’s head coach, Igor Stimac, has selected a 23-person starting team and 10 reserves.
In addition, senior goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, midfielders Jeakson Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte, defender Sandesh Jhingan, and Bengaluru FC star Sunil Chhetri were also named.
In place of Sivasakthi Narayanan and Glan Martins, who was initially selected for the squad but were later left out due to injuries, defender Pritam Kotal and forward Naorem Mahesh Singh, who recently won the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 championship with ATK Mohun Bagan, were called up to the India camp in Kolkata.
The remaining players who were competing in the ISL final joined the team when the camp relocated to Goa on March 18. The majority of the athletes landed in Kolkata for training on March 16.
