Out of the 37 participants, only 22 of the shooters will be competing for medals while the remaining will compete solely for ranking points.
ISSF World Cup 2023 Bhopal
The ISSF World Cup 2023 Bhopal, will feature a total of 198 shooters from 30 different countries. The participants will take part in 10 different individual and team event finals, spread over five days.
Players to watch
There are several players to watch out during competition. Some of them include Youth Olympic Games champion Manu Bhaker, who will be participating in the women’s 10m Air Pistol and 25m Pistol Events. Another shooter is female shooter Anjum Moudgil, who will compete in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions.
Meanwhile, the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions will feature shooters like Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Swapnil Kusale. Swapnil previously secured an Olympic quota for India during the ISSF World Championship 2022 in Cairo.
Divyansh Singh Panwar and Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil will meanwhile, compete in the 10m Air Rifle event. Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, who is just 19-year-old, won a gold at the ISSF Rifle/Pistol World Championships last October. The win helped her secure a Paris 2024 Olympics quota.
Patil’s gold medal marked the first top podium finish for an Indian in the 10m Air Rifle event at the world championships. The last Indian who won such a title was former Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra (2006).
China’s Liu Jinyao and Lu Kaiman are among the international shooters worth watching. The duo is the reigning men’s and women’s world champions in 10m Air Pistol. Meanwhile, American Carolyn Mary Tucker, who won silver in the Tokyo Olympics in 10m Air Rifle, will also compete.
