Why did Nasir Adderley, the NFL star announce sudden retirement at 25?
With the 60th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Chargers selected Adderley, who has since played in 50 games for the team.
While Adderley was a free agent, he chose to retire from football rather than pursue free agency. At his announcement of his retirement, Adderley wrote the following:
After a period of self-reflection, I have decided it’s time for me to walk away from the game of football.”
Nasir further said that he has been denying the reality for the past few years, but he went to prioritise himself for once. Everyone close to him understands that his health comes first.
He continued by saying that knowing that he truly understands his mission has assured him that he no longer belongs as a team member.

After agreeing to a four-year, $4.7 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2019, Adderley decided to leave the NFL.
