2023 WTT Singapore Smash day 2 winners, score, third day schedule, & prize money pool distribution
After defeating the reigning Singapore Smash champion Chen Meng, Elizabeta Samara has qualified for the next round. Samara battled her way to a stunning comeback victory over the No. 2 in the world, winning 3-2. (6-11, 11-6, 2-11, 11-6, 11-8). The Grand Smash title holder successfully won the first game, so everything appeared to be going according to plan. Nonetheless, the World No. 42 maintained her composure and won a tough match to win the clash. It is confirmed that Samara will face-off against Sofia Polcanova in the round-of-16 tie.
Miu Hirano defeated fourth-seeded Wang Yidi 3-2 (11-9, 11-4, 7-11, 4-11, 12-10) in the Singapore Smash, demonstrating that she is back to her old tricks of defeating elite opponents. Following her win, Miu has qualified for the last-16 stage, where she is scheduled to face-off against the winner of match between Zhang Rui and Georgina Pota.
The best-of-five-game format will be used for all singles event matches until the quarterfinal stage. However, remaining singles matches, including the semifinals, finals, & quarterfinals, will be decided by a best-of-seven format.
