Ja Morant, a player for the Memphis Grizzlies, spent $50,000 on a trip to Shotgun Willies strip club in Colorado last week
Photos of the trip have been made public. Reports say that Morant got drunk at the club for two nights and left at least $50,000 in tips.
The photos that the New York Post got of Morant’s lap dance at Shotgun Willie’s show that he got his money’s worth. Witnesses said the room was full of money and that it took a long time to count it all. One dancer remembered that her partner had said, “That took forever to count.”

Ja Morant reportedly went to the strip club with a friend and two security guards at 1:30 a.m., just a few hours after the Grizzlies beat the Rockets in Houston. He got in through the back and paid $900 to reserve a VIP room for three hours. He then paid for four dancers and bottle service and helped himself to wings, chicken strips, and a steak from a spread of food.
Livestreaming with a gun leads to investigation by the NBA
Witnesses said that Ja Morant was there on the first night to party and have fun with the girls. One person in the know said, “The music was very, very gangster.” On the second night, however, Morant livestreamed himself with a gun, which caused chaos. The video was seen by a lot of people, so the NBA looked into it right away.

Even though local police looked into what happened, they decided there wasn’t enough proof to charge Morant with a crime. Mike Bass, a spokesperson for the NBA, says that the internal investigation is still going on.
Conflicting accounts emerge over Ja Morant’s behavior
The majority owner of Shotgun Willie’s, Deborah Dunafon, said that Ja Morant came back on March 2 and 4. She said that he was very polite, sweet, and didn’t drink on his second visit. “We’ve had Nuggets and Broncos…come in and pitch quarters at the girls, be disrespectful and nasty. He’s marvelous,” she told me. But one dancer said that Morant’s gun made dancers in the back room “absolutely terrified.” she told me.
Ja Morant won’t play in the Grizzlies’ next two games, and the NBA is still looking into what happened. Photos and videos of the incident have caused a lot of trouble and made people worry about how professional athletes act.
