Swati Maliwal revealed that her father physically abused her until the fourth grade. Whenever he was heavily drunk, he would become abusive towards her. He would violently pull her hair and slam her against the wall, resulting in severe bleeding.
While not much is known about her father who is now no more, he was named Ashok Maliwal and was in the Indian army and was married to Sangita who was a chemistry teacher.
Swati has been considered an extremely close advisor of Arvind Kejriwal over the years and was previously married to an AAP Haryana leader with her and Naveen Jaihind getting divorced in 2020.

Swati Maliwal said that her mother, who was also a victim of domestic violence and severe abuse from her father, did her best to keep her safe. When her mother and father finally broke up, Maliwal’s life started to get better. Even though she felt safer with her grandparents, it was still a scary time for her.

Swati Maliwal stated that she channeled her pain and anger into helping her comprehend and aid others. She expressed that individuals in the public eye ought to discuss such matters as they should not be concealed. She believed that she has now come to a stage in her life where she has healed considerably and is unafraid to speak about it, even though it remains a sensitive subject.

Maliwal said that she wants to tell all girls who are going through any kind of incest that they need to speak up and fight it. Swati Maliwal also said that there are reports of incest in the national capital every day, which makes her blood boil.
