Authorities and his family haven’t said for sure what caused his death, but his sister’s Facebook post suggests that he may have killed himself.

Alex Canchari was a good rider who grew up and spent much of his professional life at Shakopee’s Canterbury Park. He was thought to be one of the best jockeys at the track. With $7.11 million in earnings at his home track, he was seventh on the all-time earnings list.

Alex Canchari is survived by his fiancee, Brooke-Lyn, and their two children, Leon and Penelope. In August, the couple is expecting their third child.

Family and friend mourns the loss

Alex Canchari’s sister, Ashley Canchari, wrote on her Facebook page that the jockey had died, expressing her sadness and implying that it might have been a suicide. “My heart physically hurts. I’m so sorry you were in so much pain Alex and thought there was no other way out. I know you’re happy again with Dad. I don’t even know what else to say, this is an unbelievable loss,” she wrote.

Jeff Maday, the manager of media relations at Canterbury Park, has known Canchari since he was a teenager. He remembers him as a talented, honest, and humble young man with a smile that could light up a room. “He reached great heights as a professional rider. He will always be the Shakopee Kid to many of us, though. We will remember that infectious smile and humble nature, as well as his drive to succeed, aided by great natural talent,” Maday said.

Fans send in condolences for Alex Canchari

Canterbury Park also put up a video about Alex Canchari’s career and accomplishments, calling him a talented and honest young man. In a tweet, the park sent its condolences to Canchari’s family and friends.

People on social media have also sent their condolences. Many of them were shocked and saddened by the sudden death of a talented young jockey. “It’s damn sad to hear that jockey Alex Canchari has died. The state of your mind is very important. When someone smiles, you think everything is fine, but you never know what’s going on in their mind. His family and friends are in our thoughts. So long, my brother, “one person on Twitter said.
