In a contentious encounter on Monday, the Uttar Pradesh Police fatally shot a 24-year-old man who was sought for his suspected involvement in the assassination of Umesh Pal, the key witness in the notorious 2005 murder of a sitting MLA.

A crew from a special operation group sped to the location after receiving information that Arbaaz and his colleagues were hiding close to Nehru Park and confronted the criminal. According to the police, Mohammed Arbaaz was riding a motorbike close to Nehru Park in Prayagraj when he was approached by officers and told to surrender.

Ramit Sharma, the Prayagraj police commissioner, stated that the suspect Mohammed Arbaaz opened fire at the police, which resulted in his encounter. After being injured in a gunfight, the suspect was taken to the SRN Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead.

Arbaaz has a close relationship with Atique Ahmed, the former leader of the Samajwadi Party and a suspected criminal who is presently being held in a jail in Gujarat for a number of crimes, including the kidnapping and torture of a businessman while he was still in prison.

What was his involvement in the Umesh Pal murder case?

One of the six individuals who approached Umesh Pal earlier this month and killed him with a gun was Mohammed Arbaaz.

The police claim that Arbaaz was the driver of the Hyundai Creta that was used in the murder of Umesh Pal. However, he was able to escape the crime scene without being apprehended by authorities.

According to the police, gangster Atique Ahmed, who is presently in a Gujarat prison, was close to the gunman Arbaaz. In addition to being suspected of the slaying of Raju Pal, a BSP member of parliament, Atique Ahmed and his family are also suspected of the slaying of Umesh Pal.
