Avani is one of the youngest women to ever win both the stroke and match competitions. She did so in November when she won the All India Women Amateur Golf Championship of the Indian Golf Union (IGU).

Avani, a talented player who even captained her Greenwood High International School, placed tied for 16th in the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific Golf Championship held in the United Arab Emirates before taking home the national amateur crowns in India. The Indian amateur’s finest debut performance was that one.

Avani’s father M S Prashanth, a golfer himself

Avani first mentioned her desire to play golf to her father, M. S. Prashanth, at that time. Although her father wasn’t sure if she was serious about playing the sport, he was impressed by her eye-hand coordination and the way she would swing the club.

Prashanth realised what her next step in her journey was after becoming a golfer himself and receiving training from coach Nathan Sundaram.

Despite Avani’s short 5-foot-7, 114-pound frame, she isn’t short in terns of her game.
