A look at the players left out of the Team India squad for the T20 World Cup 2021 but capable match-winners who have proved their names in world cricket

India’s team consists of 15 players and 3 reserve players. BCCI also brought back M.S. Dhoni as the team mentor for the tournament.

Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.

Reserves– Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar.

Looking at the squad, a lot of fans have raised questions on the selection committee. The Chetan Sharma-led committee got a lot of allegations on them due to some bold decisions.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

The white ball specialist opener, the current orange cap holder in the IPL, has been left out of the squad. Dhawan, who recently got a divorce from his 8 years old marriage a couple of days back, is now suffering a setback in his career. BCCI has still not cleared why they left him.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal

India’s top wicket-taker in T20Is has been left out of the T20 World Cup squad. The right arm leg break bowler who has won many matches in recent years also has an excellent record in the IPL. He was the go-to bowler for both teams. BCCI stated that he had been left because the pitches in the gulf would suit the spinners with a bit of pace as well. Also, Chahal was in a rough patch for a long time.

3. Kuldeep Yadav

Well, fans expected his selection to be uncertain. chinaman, a prime bowler for the Indian Cricket Team, has been in a rough patch since 2019 with constant in and out of the team,  lost touch in his bowling. And leaving him out is really discouraging as a player.

4. T. Natarajan

Natarajan was one of the reasons India winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-2021. Given the tag of Yorker king in the IPL is a prime bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. Natarajan, who went to Australia as a net bowler, ended up debuting in all three formats within a month due to an injury crisis over there. BCCI said they left him because of lack of game time and him coming out of an injury.

5. Krunal Pandya

Left Arm Spin bowling all-rounder who got a name from Mumbai Indians and exemplary performance in Indian blue made his fans believe that he could be in the squad for the tournament. But the competition for the spot was maybe too high that he couldn’t get in.

BCCI has time till the 10th of October to make changes in the current squad, and I hope the players mentioned above perform well in the IPL, which could change the selectors’ minds.

In any circumstances, we wish that the Indian team gets the cup back home after 13 years and Virat Kohli ends his trophy drought.
