The list of top batters
- Nazmul Shanto is in first place on this ladder board with 516 runs scored at an impressive average of 39.69 and a respectable strike rate of 116.74. Even in the championship game, he managed 64 off just 45, including 9 boundaries and a devastating six. Shanto told the Bangladeshi fans that he has come to win and score despite all the insults and hostility he has received prior to the tournament. And he was named man of the tournament for his outstanding batting performance throughout the entire season.
- Second only to Shanto in terms of runs scored, Rony Talukder of the Rangpur Riders scored 425. He had a strike rate of 129 and an average of 35. Throughout the competition, he served as Rangpur’s dependable top-order batter. And performed well when his group needed him.
- Towhid Hridoy must be the discovery of the BPL. Like his batting partner Shanto, the opener for the Sylhet Strikers has been in superb form all season. With an average of 36, he scored 403 runs. But his strike rate is more intriguing. He has a remarkable 140-strike rate which is a hint of his talent and elegance.
Similar to the batting division, local players dominated the bowling division.
- Tanvir Islam, a 26-year-old bowler for the Comilla Victorians, was the BPL’s best bowler this year. The left-arm tweaker had a bowling average of just 17.59 while taking 17 wickets in 12 games. He was very sparing with runs surrendered in addition to wickets. This year, his economic rate was only 6.36.
- Hasan Mahmud of the Laximpur express is this BPL’s second-highest wicket-taker. He played all 14 games and recorded 17 victims for an average of 24.82 and a close to 8 economy rate. He might be in charge of Bangladesh’s future fast bowling unit.
- The third-highest wicket-taker is Nasir Hossian, the captain of the Dhaka Dominators and a hero who is all but forgotten today. He took 16 wickets while participating in 12 group games, with a bowling average of 14 and an economy rate of 6.81. Nasir excelled not only with the ball but also with the bat. He scored 366 runs at a mind-blowing average of 45 and a 120-strike rate.
