On February 18, 2023, Tim Lobinger’s family said that he had died peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends. They told the German newspaper Bild that he “fell asleep peacefully in a small circle, he didn’t lose the fight, he won it in his own way.”
People from all over the world sent Lobinger condolences and messages about how much they liked and respected him. European Athletics wrote on Twitter, “European Athletics is very saddened to hear of the death of German pole vault great Tim Lobinger at the age of 50. We would like to pass on our sympathies and condolences to his friends and family and the German athletics community.”
Tim Lobinger’s stint as a coach gained him respect
Lobinger worked as a coach for RB Leipzig, which also paid tribute to him. For their Premier League game at Wolfsburg, the team wore black armbands. And Leipzig coach Marco Rose also send in condolences.
