2023 NBA All-Stars out with injury
Given below are the players who are out of the NBA All-Star game due to recent injuries:
- Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
- Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns)
- Zion Williamson (New Orleans Pelicans)
Eastern Conference players
This year, Haliburton is the only player from the Eastern Conference making a first appearance. Besides him, Holiday will be making an appearance at the NBA All-Star game after a full decade ever since his first All-Star selection. His first selection came in 2013 while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. This year, he will come to the competition as a Milwaukee Bucks player.
The Bucks (Holiday and Antetokounmpo) and Celtics (Tatum and Brown) are the only Eastern Conference teams set to feature multiple All-Stars this year. Although the Nets were also one of those teams, Durant and Irving’s move ahead of the February 9 trade deadline changed those factors.
Western Conference players
This year, the Western Conference features several fresh faces like Jackson, Gilgeous-Alexander, Markkanen, Edwards and Fox. Meanwhile Morant will play his second, and Sabonis will play his third NBA All-Star game.
Whereas, players like George and Lillard who have both played several times will offer a bit of experience. This year, the Grizzlies, Mavericks, and the Kings are all Western Conference teams featuring multiple All-Stars.
While the NBA have released the names of all the players taking part, new injuries ahead of the All-Star weekend could bring in more new faces. NBA commissioner Adam Silver is responsible for naming injury replacements.
A new feature
In the previous season of the All-Star game, the two captains drafted the players ahead of the All-Star Game. However, this season features a new tweak where the captains have to select their rosters on the day of the game itself. As such, no one knows for sure which players the captains will pick.
