The Lions selected Wilson Jr. in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2005. Before sustaining a career-ending Achilles tendon injury, he played for three seasons. After then, his legal troubles and several arrests kept him in the news. To learn more about his life and profession, keep reading.

Reason for the death

Recently, Wilson Jr. was being held by the police. He was moved from the county jail to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles, which treats patients with mental health problems, on February 1. According to sources close to the police, the football player fainted as soon as he arrived at the hospital and passed away shortly after.

No evidence of wrongdoing has been discovered by law enforcement agencies. The results of the autopsy are awaiting. Since he broke into a Hollywood Hills mansion in August of last year, Wilson had been in custody. He was moving furniture around the house and bathing in an outdoor fountain at the same time. He was detained but later found to be ineligible to face charges.

In 2005, Wilson made his NFL debut.

Wilson, who was born in 1982 in Carson, California, entered at Stanford University in 2000 and played four seasons of football for the Stanford Cardinals. He recorded the most tackles and passes defended in his college career during his senior year in 2004 when he totalled 54. Additionally, he received an honourable mention for the All-Pac-10 awards.

He was selected by the Detroit Lions with the 72nd overall pick in 2005. Between 2005 and 2007, Wilson appeared in 32 games for the team, recording 86 tackles and eight passes defended. Due to a knee injury, he was put on the reserve in November 2007.

In April 2008, the Lions then extended the player’s contract for another year. He tore his Achilles tendon during a game against the New York Giants, preventing him from continuing to play. His NFL career was effectively over after the injury.

The footballer was the subject of several arrests in recent years.

Wilson’s legal troubles continued to make news after his NFL career came to an end. He attempted to break into an elderly man’s home in Portland, Oregon in 2016, but the homeowner shot him. After being in the hospital for a few days, he healed. Later, he was charged with attempting to commit a burglary and given a 10-day jail term and a three-year probationary period.

In addition, the court mandated that he make reparations for losses and offer an apology. He was arrested in January 2017 after being discovered wandering around in the open in a Portland area. He was found to be using drugs at the time by the cops. He was detained once more the following month for attempting to enter and burglarize a house while unclothed.

Stanley Wilson Jr was the son of Stanley Wilson Snr and his father is an American former professional football running back who played for the NFL.
