Premier League club Liverpool is in constant talks with Guinean International Naby Keita who is stuck in the country following the coup d’etat 2021, a military coup in Guinea
Liverpool is in continuous contact with Naby Keita and are working tirelessly in order to bring the midfielder back to England. The Guinean midfielder was on international duty in the World Cup qualifier against Morocco.
A statement from the Liverpool FC read-
“We are satisfied that he is safe and well cared for. Obviously, the situation is fluid and we will maintain regular dialogue with the relevant authorities as we work to get Naby back to Liverpool in a timely and secure manner.”
However, the match has been canceled by FIFA and CAF after an attempted coup in Guinea’s capital Conakry to dethrone the president. Along with, Liverpool’s Naby Keita, Romain Saiss, Ilias Chair, Imran Louza, Adam Masina, and PSG’s Achraf Hakimi has also been affected.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan team has been taken to a secure location and the players will fly to their respective homes soon. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has urged everyone to remain calm as they are closely monitoring the situation in Guinea.
Naby Keita stuck in Guinea following the coup d’etat 2021 in the West African country
26-years-old Naby Keita alongside many other Premier League players is now stuck in his home country following a military coup. The current situation is worrisome in the West African country of Guinea as the junta in Guinea arrested President Alpha Conde and seized power.
Premier League club Liverpool are trying hard to bring back Naby Keita to England following the military coup. Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that they are working to ensure the safety of the players and officials.
A CAF statement read-
“The current political and security situation in Guinea is quite volatile and is being closely monitored by FIFA and CAF, Rescheduling information will be made available at a later date.”

The military tried to overthrow the ruling president Alpha Condé in order to demolish the constitution and National Assembly. Meanwhile, the Juntas have refused to release the President and have placed a curfew in the country.
Guinea is recognized all around the world as the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in 2014 and has grabbed headlines for abusing the human rights of women by the security forces. The West African country has managed to function under authoritarian and dictatorial regimes which has been a roadblock in the development of Guinea.
