Maryam d’Abo made her screen debut in the low-budget science fiction horror film Xtro in 1982 by playing Analise Mercier who was a French au pair. Later she appeared in the Oscar-winning Taylor Hackford’s film White Nights in 1985 and in an uncredited role as a woman pouring champagne to Klaus Maria Brandauer at a hunting party in the Oscar-winning Out of Africa in 1985. Out of Africa was directed by the Oscar winner Sydney Pollack.

Later, she played Roxane in Cyrano de Bergerac at Grenier de Toulouse in 1982, and then she worked in a French TV movie named Les Idiots which was written by Jean-Pierre Marielle, Gerard Brach, and Jean Carmet.

In 2007, Marya had surgery for brain hemorrhage. After she recovered, she was inspired to meet other people who had similar experiences and also produced a documentary on this topic in 2009.

In early 2009, she had done a supporting role in British period fantasy-thriller Dorian Gray. She appeared in the Indian film Tigers in 2014 which was directed by Danis Tanovic.

Maryam further got signed to Models 1. In 2015, she modeled at the fashion retailer JD Williams’ AW 15 collection which included clothing for women in their 50s.

Maryam d’Abo is Mike d’Abo’s cousin. Mike is a singer as well as a member of the Manfred Mann group which was formed 1960. D’Abo is the granddaughter of the anti-communist Georgian general Giorgi Kvinitadze. In November of 2003, she got married to Hugh Hudson, who was an Oscar-nominated British director for Chariots of Fire in 1981.

Maryam was born in London to a Georgian mother Nino Kvinitadze who was the daughter of General Giorgi Kvinitadze. While her father Peter was an Anglo-Dutch. She attended Drama Center in London.

Both her sister Olivia and Maryam were born in London, England. They are separated by nine years and Maryam is the elder of the two.
